*Used 3-year old seed that had poor vigor.
Remarks: There were very low infections of fusarium ear rot and common smut in this trial. Spider mite populations were low throughout the season. Temperatures were favorable during pollination. Cool, wet conditions brought on broadleaf weed problems in the corn rows, a moderate population of red root pigweed, lambsquarters and nightshade was present. One replication was treated with Butril plus Sencor. This combination herbicide gave good control of the broadleaf weeds, however, there was no yield difference between the treated replication and the untreated. Average yield treated replication (20 varieties): 10,740; untreated replication: 10,920.
